Christmas on the Green 2025

Last Saturday truly brought the Christmas spirit into Southbourne with a fantastic family fun day, organised by Bournemouth Coastal BID along with Boscombe and Southbourne Rotary Club and the wonderful volunteers Heather from Margery Daw and Nigel.

The high street was brought to life with music and laughter throughout the day. There were live performances from the talented Stourfield School choir, who entertained crowds both on the Green and outside the Larder House. The much-loved Gugge 2000 marching band made a much-anticipated return filling the high street with joyful, festive music for the full day. They performed all over the Grove from outside the post office, to the Green and outside the Way Outback. We also had the Immanuel Church choir, Sounds like Fun, performing some Christmas classics.

The famous Bournemouth Goats and festive donkeys were popular all day long and Susana’s reindeer face painting designs meant she had a massive queue all day long!

And of course, it wouldn’t have felt like Christmas without a visit from Santa Claus himself. Santa made sure that Southbourne wasn’t missed off his world tour, spreading smiles and festive magic from his grotto all day. His post box is still on the Green, so if you missed him or you haven’t posted your letter to Santa yet, there is still some time!

We also loved what the local traders organised for the day. The Wight Bear put on a Christmas market with special Christmas cocktails and Bao Buns by Take a Bao. Sugar Mango had an Advent Tree Lucky Dip. If you spent £30 or more in store you got to win a festive prize.

A huge thank you to everyone involved in making the day such a memorable celebration for the whole community. What a wonderful way to welcome the festive season into Southbourne.
